Baked beans always seemed to be so hard for me to make; the planning ahead, baking, I don’t know what it was exactly. To this day, I have never made the “real” baked beans as I always just make my Quick Baked Bean recipe.
Simple Ingredients Make Magic
I learned this technique from my former sister in law, Anne, several years ago. It stuck with me and over the years, I have made a few changes. Adding mustard is what makes this taste so delicious. I know that sounds strange, but it does something to make this recipe taste like grandma made it.
Begin with Bacon and Onion
Start by frying the chopped bacon and onion in a pre-heated skillet, and after they have cooked through, add the beans. Let the beans get nice and warm, absorbing the flavor of the bacon and onion. Now add the mustard, brown sugar, and BBQ sauce.
Use a Quality Barbecue Sauce
Since I am from Kansas City, my go to BBQ Sauce if KC Masterpiece Original. It is my absolute favorite sauce. Hey, you can take the girl out of Kansas City, but you can’t take the Kansas City out of the girl. Just saying! Hope you find that this quick way of making baked beans will help you when you are hosting or are invited to your next Barbeque!
Enjoy,
Sherri
