Herding Cats Here

About Me

Todd and Sherri Carlson

Sherri Carlson

I wear a lot of hats, and it seems like I am constantly multi-tasking.  This is why I named my site Herding Cats Here because that is what I do all day!  Whether I am spending time with my husband, working on my projects, or having fun with my grandkids, I am constantly on the move.  The picture of the cats on the home page was taken on a trip to the Bahamas several years ago, and I felt it was perfect for my blog.

This is my fifth year of blogging.  I am planning to be more productive this year than in the past few years.

The COVID-19 Pandemic has wreaked havoc on everyone’s lives, mine included. I found it difficult to write about happy things when the world had morphed into such a strange and scary place.  But now, I feel confident that we are headed for a new normal, and can start being happy again!  Please come along with me on my blogging journey!

My Hats:

Wife – I’ve been married to my husband, Todd, for 35 years.  It’s been a wonderful adventure, and we are looking forward to traveling more since we are both retired. We live in a suburb of Dallas, which allows for a lot of traveling via DFW Airport.

Mother – We have three grown daughters – who are all living on their own, raising their families.  We are very proud of them and are super happy they all live close to us.

Mimi – We have been blessed with four grandchildren.  Our granddaughters are 12 & 10, and our grandsons are 6 & 3!  They call us Mimi and PeePaw, and we have lots of fun watching them grow and learn.  I never realized that being a grandparent would be so much fun!

Daughter – I am the youngest of four.  I lost my mother in 2001 due to Colon Cancer.  My dad remarried his high school sweetheart a few years later, and they live in Lawrence, Kansas, near where they both grew up.  Luckily, I still get to visit with them every week or so over the phone, by email,  and in person every so often.

Sister – My brother and oldest sister are fraternal twins, and my middle sister is sixteen months older than me. We are very fortunate to get to spend time with each other quite often, although we all live in different areas of the United States.

Friend – I am so lucky to have been able to meet so many great people all across the world, from new relatives discovered thru genealogy, folks met while traveling, reconnecting with cousins and school friends thru Facebook, and now a chance to make more friends through my blogging journey!

Treasurer – I was recently nominated to be the Treasurer of the “Goff-Gough Family Association”.

A wonderful group of folks who are all related in some way through our Goff, Goffe, Gough, McGough Surnames.  It is an exciting time to be a Goff.  We have a wonderful new website and a massive Male Y-DNA study underway.  The website has over 40 years of newsletters that can be searched digitally.

So, check out the website by clicking on the “Goff-Gough Family Association” photo above and see what’s going on.  The membership fee is very reasonable and the first year is discounted!

I am looking forward to sharing my continued blogging journey with all of you!
